We are currently living in a post-mobilegeddon age, yet there are still businesses out there without a mobile website. If you don’t remember, Google changed its search algorithm back in April that would favor all websites that were mobile-friendly. If you don’t know the reasons why your website should be mobile-friendly already, here’s a Local Solutions friendly reminder why it’s so important.
Because Google is in favor of websites that are mobile-friendly, mobile-friendly websites will appear to have higher rankings while sites that aren’t mobile friendly will receive lower rankings. This will result in mobile-friendly pages appearing at the top the results page. Receiving a lower rank on the search page means less traffic coming into the site, which will eventually decrease the amount of visitors. For some, that could lead to less sales.
A Bad User experience
When a website isn’t mobile-friendly, a mobile user would have to inconveniently pinch-to-zoom multiple times while scrolling to find the information that they want. This user experience may irritate some causing one to leave the site and not return. With a mobile layout, the webpage is formatted to one’s device so there is no need to consistently zoom and un-zoom to find what you’re looking for. A mobile layout will also make the text more readable.
People Are Spending More and More Time with Mobile Devices
Since 2014, the amount of time people spent on the internet by devices has drastically changed. People have the ability to have easy access to the internet, that mobile internet usage has surpassed computer internet usage. In fact, according to Digital Trends, people spend almost 4 hours per day on their mobile devices. Compare that to how it was 5 years ago when we were only spending less than an hour on our smartphones.
Mobile is everywhere, and it is here to stay. Everyone is finding the information they want and need on mobile. Make sure you’re easily accessible on the internet just like the internet is on these devices. Don’t get left behind!!
