When creating banner ads, it’s easy just to make the call-to-action “Click Here.” It’s the most over-used CTA online that is surprisingly around and possibly should be retired my now, just in the same fashion that cassette tapes aren’t used for music. Though this CTA was prominent in all banner ads in the 90’s, this phrase is outdated and overused. Moving forward, you should think of a more effective way to engage consumers, especially since “click here” is so common. To be effective, let’s think outside the box to create a more unique call-to-action.
Enable Easy Action
Grab a consumer’s attention by rewarding them with something they must act now on. You could say, “Like us on Facebook and get voucher for $10 off!”, but simply going on Facebook might have the consumer think that the extra step of going on Facebook to like a page might be inconvenient. Instead of saying that, you could say, “Get $10 off now!” which creates a sense of urgency that the consumer must act now. This will also imply that the process will be quick and easy. From that point on, you should attract more leads and conversions!
Switch It Up
Be creative in switching up your copy. Rather than saying “Test drive our new models today!”, you could make it more intriguing by saying “We have all models that are $1000 off this week only!” Be creative with it! You will see that changing it up will engage consumers to your ads.
Keep It Short
“Click here” has been so effective over the years because it is short. That doesn’t mean two word CTA’s will always work, but what it does mean is that the shorter and direct, the more likely it will attract someone to your ad without reading a lot of fluff.
Make your banner ads more successful by going out with the old and in with the new! Try not using this overused expression and create one that is creative and intriguing!
