Whether you are using your mobile device to find the information you need at that given moment or simply just for leisure, most of us are on our phones daily. Most Americans are on their phones 4.7 hours a day. But how about when you take a vacation? Using our phones during vacation still extends this habit. In fact, BookingSuite says that 90% of Americans use smartphones while traveling based on a TripAdvisor online survey. This includes traveling abroad. Marketers have even more reason to chase after these consumers, especially since they are constantly connected.
Bookingsuite also says that consumers use their devices on their vacations for things to do on their vacations. 73% of travelers use them for GPS, 62% to look up palces to eat, and 52% to find activities while their vacationing. Rather than using your mobile device to document pictures, update your statuses on social media, people are using them to plan their trips, especially on the go!
A great way advertisers can get to these consumers is through location-based targeting. You can advertise nearby attractions, restaurants, and anywhere a tourist would be. While you may think vacationers are getting away from their daily pace of life and their mobile phones, think again.
